Gordon won the race for a Senate seat in District 30 in the November 4th election. The term of office is 2009-2010. Gordon will serve on the transportation committee and the taxation committee, and has been appointed vice-chair of the Ag and Natural Resources committee.

POLICY POSITIONS

Maintaining a Balanced State Budget
During Gordon's service in the House, he has worked with the Republican team to create a balanced state budget.  He will continue support to KEEP it balanced.

Preservation of Property Rights
Every year someone comes with a "Brilliant" new idea to take away the personal rights afforded through ownership of property.  Gordon continues to stand as a voice of opposition against those who would weaken or eliminate property rights.

Gordon has been a strong voice for the rights of the unborn.  He acknowledges that abortion hurts women and takes the life of an innocent child.  "It is important that we protect the life of unborn children, and that we work together to help meet the physical, financial and emotional needs of women and children in crisis situations."

Gun Ownership
Gordon is an avid sportsman.  He believes we must preserve our right to bear arms.

Adequate Funding for Schools
Every year Gordon has supported increases in state aid to education.  He believes we must also demand accountability from the schools.  Are we getting the best results for the money we invest?  That's a question that should always be asked as we consider increases in spending.  Gordon supports the concept of school vouchers.

Traditional Values
Our country was founded by God-fearing people who created a country with the foundation of "In God we Trust".  Our own state motto is "Under God the People Rule".  We have allowed a loud minority to convince many we should remove God from our government.  We should always respect someone's right to "not believe".  We must never allow them to take away the open expressions of our reliance on God.  We included God in our beginnings.  If we exclude Him it will be our end.

Today, our Nation is in peril.  Many elected officials who pledged to serve and protect us have betrayed us.  They have pursued their own agendas and taken America in the wrong direction.  It is critical that South Dakotans rise together to defend the rich heritage of liberty and freedom that was purchased by the sacrifices of so many.
